Hi, I’m Mohammad Alfaiz, a Computer Science student at the University of Illinois Chicago with a passion for building intelligent systems that solve real problems.

My interests sit at the intersection of machine learning, software engineering, and AI infrastructure. While many AI projects focus solely on models, I’m fascinated by the systems that make those models useful in practice, retrieval pipelines, data workflows, evaluation frameworks, deployment architectures, and the engineering decisions that turn prototypes into reliable products.

I’ve worked on projects ranging from Botzy.AI, a retrieval-augmented chatbot platform for small businesses, to machine learning research focused on causal discovery and large-scale experimentation. Through these experiences, I’ve learned that successful AI products require more than strong models—they require thoughtful system design, rigorous evaluation, and a deep understanding of how technology interacts with people.

Beyond technical work, I serve as an Engineering Success Program Mentor at UIC, helping students navigate their first engineering courses and develop confidence in problem-solving. I enjoy learning from both industry and research perspectives, and I’m particularly interested in the future of machine learning systems, agentic AI, and scalable AI infrastructure.

My goal is to contribute to the next generation of intelligent systems by combining research-driven thinking with practical engineering execution.
